The room

Beau & Mo's feels committed to a specific look. Red carpet. White tablecloths. Small dining room. It lands as an Italian steakhouse right away, and there is not much confusion about what kind of night this is supposed to be. The place is not trying to be airy or casual.

The flip side is space. It is pretty small, and on a busy night it can get cramped. That matters here because this is not the kind of meal that stays politely contained to one little plate and a quick drink. We went for the 42-ounce tomahawk for two, which is a table-filling order by itself, and the room already has that close-packed feel before a big steak hits the table. If the appeal is an old-school steakhouse setup, the tightness is part of that. If the appeal is elbow room, maybe not.

The tomahawk

The 42-ounce tomahawk was the right reason to be here. It was heavily seasoned, with a heavy char, and it was pretty good. I'd rank it 7/10.

The restaurant sends it out with several sides and desserts, which gives the whole order a built-in occasion feel without forcing us to keep adding on just to make the meal feel complete. The steak is clearly the centerpiece, but it does not arrive stranded. Included green beans, shrimp cocktail, and the dessert.

Practical stuff

Reservations are recommended because it books quickly, and that lines up with the size of the place.

The also have some outdoor seating. We ate inside, so that is not part of our experience, but it could matter for anyone interested in the food and less interested in the cramped feeling of the main room.

. Beau & Mo's gave us exactly what the room promised, a classic-feeling steakhouse dinner built around a giant steak still on the bone. If that sounds good, it probably is. Just do not expect a lot of breathing room when the place fills up.
