Bonu' Taverna Italiana

What we ordered

Bonu' Taverna Italiana is a very easy place to like. Most recently we kept it pretty simple, a Caesar salad and a pinsa with stracciatella on top, and that was enough to remind us why we love this place. It is modern Italian without a lot of fuss in the experience we had. We ordered, got good service, had good cocktails, and ate a meal that felt solid all the way through. No dead spot in the order, no one thing dragging the rest of it down.

A lot of restaurants can sell the idea of a fun night out and then make us work around something dumb, slow service, weak drinks, one dish that clearly did not belong on the table. Bonu' did not give us that problem.

The good part beyond the food

The cocktails were good. Service was good too. We did not have to grade the place on a curve because the room was nice or because the concept was appealing. The basics were covered. That lets the food be the point instead of a rescue operation.

Bonu' also feels like the kind of downtown restaurant where a lot of people can find something that fits. Our meal stayed on the lighter side with salad and pinsa, but the broader picture around the restaurant is a modern Italian menu with pizza, pasta, salads, and appetizers. That lines up with what we experienced. It is not a one-dish place, at least not from the way the meal came together for us.

The one real drawback

The biggest knock is not complicated. When Bonu' gets busy, the dining room can feel a little cramped, and it can get loud. That changes the meal more than a small atmosphere complaint usually does. Good food is still good food, but a packed room makes it harder to relax into it. If noise is already irritating, this is useful to know before showing up and expecting a calm dinner.

Bonu' does accept reservations for parties of two or more. Outdoor seating is available too, and that may be the better call for anyone more interested in eating and talking than sitting inside a room that has gotten a little tight and loud.

Even with that downside, our take is pretty straightforward. Bonu' is a great modern Italian restaurant.
