Pete’s Bagels

What we order

Pete’s Bagels is one of those places where our order is not complicated. The everything bagel with the garden cream cheese is the one. That’s the best thing I’ve had here, and it’s the one that makes the most sense to keep getting. We’ve also had the Salty Pete plenty of times, and it’s pretty good. Coffee has never been the reason to come. It’s just fine.

The bagels do not really compare to authentic ones from NYC. Still, right now they’re the best St. Pete has to offer. That is not some huge compliment. It’s also not nothing.

The menu matters more than the coffee

While they have several regular bagels with different spreads available, they also have bagel sandwiches made to order. If somebody in the group wants more than a bagel and schmear, the place is set up for that.

Coffee is a similar story, just less impressive from our end. Not bad enough to complain about, not good enough to pretend it lifts the meal.

If the question is whether Pete’s Bagels is great, the answer is no. If the question is whether it is solid and currently THE best bagel option around here, the answer is yes.
